Dear Give Children Hope sponsors and friends,

We hope you are all having a great time as you read this letter.

August will be a busy month for the Philippine Schools as we celebrate our “Buwan ng Wika” (National Language Month). Different activities will be held throughout this month and for sure will be a great experience for the students. We are also expected to have 2-4 tropical cyclones for this month and we hope and pray that we’ll be able to prepare well for that.

In Filipino, the word “thank you” translates to “Salamat”, “thank you very much” is “Maraming Salamat”. That expression may be simple but it means a lot. Just like whenever we say “salamat” for all the years of providing hot meals for the thousands of students every day. And on behalf of the sponsored children, Kimberly Quiruben would like to say “thank you” for the everyday meals. She is student from Dugcal Elementary School, belongs to a family of 6, and the 2nd of four children. Her mother is a housewife while her father is a chicharon (fried pork belly/fried pork rinds) vendor. She walks to and from school with P6.00 ($0.12) money for food. She is happy every time her favorite macaroni soup is served for the day and she won’t have to spend much from her little pocket money and instead saves it for a project or for whatever school supply she needs. In her own words, she expressed, “Maraming, maraming salamat po sa feeding” (Thank you very very much for the feeding). She hopes that this program will continue to feed children in her beloved elementary school.

A “thank you” is not enough to express how blessed the lives of these children have become since receiving the everyday Meals at School. Maraming Salamat for all that you do!
