Dear Give Children Hope sponsors and friends,

We hope that the start of December was a good one for you. Christmas is right here and it makes everyday more special.

Christmas break will begin as early as December 15 to give students more time to spend with their families. This is really a wonderful news since it used to be around December 22 in the previous years . The students are now focused on accomplishing different school works before the vacation begins and also looking forward to the exciting and fun Christmas parties. We all hope that the students will enjoy their activities and be able to feel and act on the true spirit of Christmas amidst all the tangible gifts and loud celebrations.

Our featured sponsored child for this month is one of those who is excited for the celebration. Jan Marie is a 4th grader from Sua Elementary School. She has been a recipient of the feeding since kindergarten. She says that the feeding has helped her and other students a lot. In her own words, she shared “We have a uniform snack so there is no discrimination” and continued “We promised to do good turns daily”. We can look into Jan Marie’s heart as she shared those words. For a child, it is one of the saddest moments when you see others seem to have “better” things compared to what you have. With the Meals at School Program, everyone gets to enjoy the same meal and it wouldn’t make any child feel left out. Jan Marie’s heart is filled with an overflowing love and gratitude that she promised to do good things everyday in return.

I can especially relate to Jan Marie. Growing up poor and seeing my classmates enjoy nicer things and more delicious school lunch made me feel sad at times but I get so much love from my family and my then sponsors that the thought of being unlucky or being not blessed leaves my mind almost immediately.

We know that you are making sacrifices to help run the Meals at School Program continuously. We are grateful for all that you do and our hearts are full of love which makes us very willing to spread that love and do good things each day.

Jan Marie, 4th grader from Sua Elementary School
