Dear Give Children Hope sponsors and friends,
We hope you are having a great day as you receive this letter.
The new school year opened this week, and despite rain and thunderstorm warnings, the children were all happy to be at school to welcome the new school year. Not many school activities are done this month, except for the Philippine Independence Day, instead, the children will focused on settling in, getting to know their new teachers and classmates, and learning new lessons. Nonetheless, we will look forward to a lot of school activities in the following months. These are some of the things that the children are excited about.
Likewise the children are very excited and were very happy to be welcomed with the delicious meals from the the daily Meals at School of Give Children Hope. They are happy to be served not just hot meals but meals that they really enjoy. Anica Royce Marcaida shares that her favorite snack is champorado and she is thankful for Give Children Hope for serving this meal for her and for the students in he beloved Sua Elementary School. Champorado is a thick chocolate rice porridge usually eaten for breakfast but is also a great snack for anytime of the day. This Filipino comfort food is made from glutinous rice, sugar, chocolate tablets (tablea), and milk. Served hot or cold, this sweet and hearty snack is definitely a favorite among Filipinos young and old.

This one of the champorados prepared for the children several times in a month.

Thank you very much for taking care of the children’s meals every day. We are so happy to volunteer and to make sure that the meals being prepared are healthy and something that the children will love. Thank you for all that you do.
For the sponsored children,
Kristina Lou Calidayan Sunico-Nobles
