Dear Give Children Hope sponsors and friends,

We are now at the last month of the summer vacation for the schools here in the Philippines. The weather has been very hot but the children are surely enjoying this time playing in the sun and spending time with family and friends.

It is not unusual if some children might be doing some summer jobs to help them earn and save money to prepare them for the class opening in June. Most of their earning from summer jobs will be spent to buy new bag, shoes, uniform, and other school supplies. It is really a nice thing that these children learn to be self-reliant and work for something that they want.
One of the sponsored children is also having a fun time enjoying her summer vacation.

Nikki Pelobello is an 11 year old student from Dolores P Tirador Elemenatry School in Iloilo. She loves to ride bikes and she enjoys going to school because she has a lot of friends. She dreams of becoming a nurse someday. She has two brothers and a sister. Her father works as a carpenter while her mother is a dishwasher. Life may not be easy for Nikki and her family and money may not always enough but she is thankful and happy. She is grateful for the Meals at School Program that provides healthy meals for the children in her school. Nikki is very much looking forward for the coming school year as she would see her friends again. Thank you so much for bringing hope and happiness to the lives of the children just like Nikki’s.
